Do I Really Need to Add Cayenne Pepper?

Cayenne pepper is arguably one of the most popular ingredients to add to wellness shots. It contains capsaicin which is known to have several health benefits. It’s said to help boost metabolism and lower blood pressure.

For starters, let’s get one thing straight. Cayenne pepper is a lot to handle! Not everyone wants to start their day with a burning sensation that warms up their entire body.

We recommend trying out this recipe with a tiny pinch of cayenne pepper the first time you make it and if you’re not a fan, leave it out the next time.

What kind of honey is good to add to this shot?

Have you heard of the Sidr Honey? Sidr honey is known specifically for its peculiar taste and texture. This holds true for all monofloral honeys with extraordinary benefits which are more than just good for your body. It not only heals you or prevents infections, but it also improves your overall health by boosting immunity. This is why it is sold for a higher price in the marketplace when compared to other imported or local honey.

It’s time for the immunity booster shot recipe

16 oz ginger root to yield about 12 fl oz/350 ml juice
6 lemons to yield about 12 fl oz/350 ml juice – may need more or less (your preference on taste)
1 tsp Sidr honey (or adjust to your sweetness level)
1/8 tsp cayenne pepper (an optional)

1. Start by rinsing and scrubbing the ginger root. There’s no need to peel it, just cut it into small enough pieces so they can pass through the juicer.
2. Begin by juicing the ginger.
3. Once the ginger is juiced, check your yield amount, and juice the lemons accordingly. You can pass it through the juicer if you remove the skin and white rind. Alternatively, juice the lemon as you would usually and measure a 1:1 ratio with the ginger juice.
4. Mix the ginger and lemon juice together.
5. Add the cayenne pepper and the Sidr honey and stir well, to thoroughly combine.
6. Separate into shot-sized portions (60ml) and keep refrigerated for up to a week. The cayenne pepper will sink to the bottom – so make sure to shake the shot container before drinking.
7. You can also freeze the juice into ice cubes and add to juices and smoothies when needed

Happy Trying!
