5 Facial Acupressure Points For Better Skin- Where & How To Do It

If you have heard of acupuncture, now is the time to introduce you to acupressure. Both treatments are applied by putting pressure to specific points of the body; acupuncture using needles and acupressure using finger pressure. This method has been around for thousands of years and is intended to increase blood circulation and repair muscle tone. Acupressure when done correctly and consistently, will make your skin radiant, clear and taut.

How it works

Our body is lined with energy channels with acupressure points across them called meridians. They are all each connected to different organs in the body and if blocked may cause illnesses. With a healing touch of acupressure or acupuncture, these illnesses may cure, and that includes insomnia, gastric, muscle soreness, headaches and more. Today we are going to talk about the meridians of one organ specifically, which is our skin.

Pressure Points and Its Healing Properties

Pro-tip: Exhale as you press on the point, release while inhaling.

1. The Third Eye Point – General Skin Problems

Right between your eyebrows, where the bridge of the nose meets the center of the forehead is the third eye point.

This pressure point stimulates the pituitary gland.

Simply place your index finger on the pressure point and massage slightly for about 60 seconds each day.

2. Blemish Free Point – Acne

This pressure point is located just below the lower ridge of the eye socket, right below the iris and near the cheekbone, on both eyes. Stimulating this point will help reduce blemishes.

Place your index fingers on the points and press for about 60 seconds.

3. Facial Beauty Point –General Skin Problems

As good as a complete facial, apply pressure daily to the base of the cheekbones on both sides of your face— just beside the nostrils. Massage the points using your index fingers regularly to improve circulation to the face for a better complexion.

4. Heavenly Appearance Point – Wrinkles

This pressure point is found behind the jaw below your two earlobes. Put pressure on the points for a few moments to balance the thyroid gland. Repeat throughout the day to lessen wrinkles and maintain a younger skin.

5. Heavenly Pillar – Stress

Stress has a lot of side effects, one of them being skin related issues like acne. If your acne is stress induced, press the heavenly pillar points located behind your head, at the base of the skull, where your spine is attached.

Press these points for at least two minutes each day to relieve stress.
