(Berry) Good For Your Skin!

Berries – the bright and multicoloured tiny fruits you see when you walk into the supermarket or pass by farms.

They are by definition, fruits that are small, pulpy, and usually edible. Berries are commonly known for their sweet or sour juiciness packed in round figures, with many plastered pips or seeds on the outside.

From studies, we learn that they can reduce cholesterol, prevent diabetes, cancer and are incredibly rich in vitamin C.

They are particularly known for the benefits they bring to our skin. Produced in varieties, each group of berries contain their own uniqueness in benefiting the wellbeing.

Blueberries

They contain compounds called anthocyanins, dynamic antioxidants that protect the skin from harmful free radicals.

It is essential for the skin to be radical-free as it may damage the collagen designed to keep the skin firm. It also protects the body from oxidative stress.

Coherently, scientists highlighted that berries boosts memory power and delays age-related cognitive decline. Varicose and spider veins are dilated blood vessels that are close enough to the skin to be visible.

By eating blueberries, it protects the skin from appearing splotchy due to weakened vessel walls.

Cranberries

These tasty berries are glossy scarlet red berries with bitter-tarty (sometimes sour) taste.

A cup of cranberries helps with your collagen-boosting vitamin C intake per day. Additionally, their juices can avoid urinary infections by binding to bacteria, so they are unable to cling to cell walls.

Not only does it help flush the insides of our body, but it affects our outsides in a way it helps to exfoliate the skin, making it appear oil-free.

They also aid acne and skin boils with their antiseptic properties.

Furthermore, they carry essential fatty acids that act as diligent skin moisturizers and inflammation-deterrence, perfect for dry and rough skin.

Raspberries

One of the most eaten type of berries, is widely known as it offers an uncountable amount of health benefits.

These include protection against diseases like skin, lung, breast cancer and diabetes as well as preventing ailments related to the heart.

As mentioned, they serve as prominent skin-cancer preventions with their richness in vitamin C. This is also due to their nutrients being a guard against direct damaging sunrays.

In another way, it prevents sensitive skin from experiencing redness and is an antioxidant that hinders the formation of an enzyme that breaks down elastin and collagen in the skin.

Strawberries

Although they were recently discovered not to be under the berry family, strawberries – by name – are undeniably healthy for the skin.

They carry rich amounts of vitamin C which aids the skin against free radicals that steal oxygen from healthy cells and destroy collagen, encouraging pronounced unfavourable lines to appear on the skin.

Importantly, folic acids that are found in these sweet fruits assist the process of cell regeneration and replacement of old dead cells. Notorious acne caused by excess accumulation of sebum can be cleared off with the nutrients in this fruit.

The acidic nature of strawberries also enables it to remove unwanted excess oil in the skin.

Many prepare fresh strawberry juice as it is efficient in lightening blemishes and acne scars.

On top of that, it contains skin lightening extracts to give the skin a natural glow.
