CORONAVIRUS – HOW DO WE PROTECT OURSELVES & OUR LOVE ONES?

CORONAVIRUS has now been confirmed in China, Taiwan, Japan, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam, and the USA, and the rising number of cases has been sparking fears across the globe. But what can be done to prevent the deadly virus from spreading?

Coronavirus is becoming of increasing concern around the world after the virus was first reported in Wuhan, China. Chinese officials have said at least 26 people have died from coronavirus, all in Hubei Province of which Wuhan is the capital. These are a large group of viruses that affect humans and animals’ respiratory systems. They area cause of the common cold, but some species have been more important, notably SARS CoV and MERS-CoV.

Currently, the latest count in Singapore (as of 29 Jan) has increased the number of infected to 10.
All the cases are Chinese nationals who travelled from Wuhan, said the Ministry of Health (MOH) in a press release.

Coronavirus symptoms

Common human coronaviruses, including types 229E, NL63, OC43, and HKU1, usually cause mild to moderate upper-respiratory tract illnesses, like the common cold, according to the Centres for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
CDC explains: “Most people get infected with these viruses at some point in their lives. However, these illnesses only last for a short amount of time.” Symptoms to look out for include:
• Runny nose
• Headache
• Cough
• Sore throat
• Fever
• A general feeling of being unwell
There are no specific treatments for coronavirus infection, so preventing the virus is very important.

What can be done to prevent the spread of coronavirus?

Here is what CDC recommends everyday preventive actions to help prevent the spread of respiratory viruses:

  • Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. Use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer that contains at least 60% alcohol if soap and water are not available.
  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth with unwashed hands.
  • Avoid close contact with people who are sick.
  • Stay home when you are sick.
  • Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue, then throw the tissue in the trash.
  • Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces.
  • Don’t panic.

Other preventive measures that the government has taken include public education, screening points at transportation hubs, surveillance of cases and contacts of cases.
Professor Cheng said: “The World Health Organization is not currently making any specific recommendations other than to maintain good hygiene and avoid close contact with sick people where possible.
CDC adds: “Human coronaviruses can sometimes cause lower-respiratory tract illnesses, such as pneumonia or bronchitis. This is more common in people with cardiopulmonary disease, people with weakened immune systems, infants and older adults.”

Treatment

There is no specific antiviral treatment recommended for 2019-nCoV infection. People infected with 2019-nCoV should receive supportive care to help relieve symptoms. For severe cases, treatment should include care to support vital organ functions.

Guard our body with supplements to improve immunity system

Information filtering out of China suggests that people of all ages are at risk of contracting the virus. However, as with most respiratory illnesses, it is likely to be the young and old who are most at risk once infected. People with a reduced chance of surviving pneumonia includes:

  • Those over age 65
  • Children under the age of two
  • People with underlying health conditions or a weakened immune system

BLACK SEED OIL is known to be a natural immunity booster to the body. Studies concluded that the oil has therapeutic potential in the treatment of the condition due to its anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, antihistaminic, immune-modulator, antimicrobial, and analgesic effects.
